Nikka Yoichi Single Malt is a bold, peated whisky from Hokkaido, Japan. Founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the distillery uses traditional coal-fired pot stills, a method rarely seen today.
This direct heating creates a whisky with a distinctively rich, oily, and slightly charred character. It captures the rugged coastal style of northern Japan, reminiscent of fine Scotch.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Gentle peat smoke, sea breeze, and citrus.
- Palate: Smoke, melon, almond, and rich malt.
- Finish: Long and herbaceous with lingering peat.
